Princess Festival

The Princess Festival was held at the Children's Discovery Gardens at Thanksgiving Point this year. We met Allison and Sarah (and Shane) in the morning and Kadree and Jennette joined us later. This carriage was stationed just outside the entrance and the girls thought it was pretty magical.

Lily was a little leery of the princesses at first, but she loved this bear statue they have there. She played on it for some time while Ruth and Allison went on their little Princess adventure.

We did a little craft station they had in one of the buildings there. Allison and Lily picked wands to make. Allison picked a wand because she wanted something to use the next time Corinne and Matthew played Harry Potter. Ruth made a headband (you can see in later pictures--it matched her dress really well).

They had the 12 dancing princesses that did a little dance with the girls. Ruth and Allison danced with them. Lily mostly stayed by my side. She took most of the morning to warm up to any princesses. By the time we went to see Rapunzel in the 'Storytelling Cave,' she was chatting up a storm with them.

The 'Osmond Girls' performed at the Festival. They are all three sisters and Alan Osmond's granddaughters.

They sang very well and did some very fun numbers the girls could dance along to.

This blue fairy was in a production of Pinnochio together with the Osmond Sisters. She sang a number with them which was very cute. She also interacted with the crowd and asked different little girls what was neat about being a princess. She was very cute. There is a clip of their song together on our youtube channel if you'd like to see it.

This is Lily doing the 'Chicken Dance.' It was a riot. Ruth is dancing down with the bigger girls so you can't really pick her out in the video very easily.

Tinker Belle, Captain Hook, and Peter Pan (not pictured) hung out in a 'Free Play' area and interacted with the kids. Ruth spent a lot of time playing with them while Lily climbed on the play toys and I sat on the bench with Kate. They led a small group of kids on a treasure hunt with several clues hidden around the play area and that ended with some play coins for all the kids. They were very cute.

Ruth saw Ariel (she is technically known as Arianna) from a distance but we weren't able to get over to her for a while because Lily was still playing on the toys. Then when we finally went to find her, we were told she'd gone over to the 'Storytelling Cave.' We were eventually able to hunt her down to get a picture.

This being their first year in Thanksgiving Point I think they were still working out a few kinks--like the 'Princess Parade' that had one princess and Miss Lehi followed by her two attendants walk by, even though the place was chockfull of princesses, plenty to make a wonderful parade if they coordinated it--lol, but all in all the girls had a wonderful time and the princesses did a delightful job.

So cute. I bet Ruth was in heaven! Her headband did come out so cute. I think Elinor would have been shy like Lily. Maybe we'll make it with you next year. The girls all looked so cute.

It's too bad we had to leave a little early. It sounds like there was still a lot going on. We should definitely go again next year.
