Oh no Lily!

When I was eight-years-old, I fell out of a tree on Mother's Day and ended up spending the night in the hospital. We had similar bad luck this past Mother's Day. Little Lily was playing outside with the cousins. She was running away from a bigger cousin when she impacted one of the big landscape rocks.

At first we thought all she got out of it was a big scrape on her chin. But later that week, Jason was helping Lily wash her hands and she really began to react to his hold on her wrists. He told me he thought it was broken, but I wasn't so sure. She'd been playing and sleeping fine for a few days now, and I'd never seen her favor that wrist.

Then the following morning she was out playing with Ruth and came in from the backyard crying, holding that same wrist. So Jason took her in for x-rays and sure enough, she had a "buckle fracture" in her left arm. Luckily she is so young, it didn't actually crack the bone but caused it to bevel out. He sent her home with a splint and an appointment to come back the next day for a cast.

She did NOT like the splint. Jason taped it on with clear tape so she could not take it off (again). The doctor had to get scissors to get the splint off--ha, ha. They make waterproof casts now, and I was so relieved. The thought of trying to keep this thing dry for even one day was pretty overwhelming, especially considering it was on Lily. She only has to wear it a month. The doctor says at this age, with proper treatment, these heal wonderfully well--future x-rays should not even detect it was there.

We got a kick out of Lily's choice of color. We're glad our Little Lily is okay!

Oh man! There is nothing worse than having a sick, or injured little one! Glad it wasn't any worse and that she was able to pick a perfect color for spring!! ;)
