Kate on the Mend: Day 5 Update

We received a lot of love in the mail today, which was very fun. Heather (cousin, best friend growing up) sent one of her adorable handmade dolls. My sister Heidi (with possible input from Grandma?) sent a box of fun things for the girls, including a stuffed animal for Kate. Ruth was a little miffed Kate is getting all these stuffed animals and she isn't, but if you have to go through lots of owie bandage changes, we explained, you're entitled to a few perks.

Kate was very into these multi-colored pens she received. She can't get the lids off but played with pens for several minutes at the kitchen table.

Things were a little challenging last night. We had a hard time getting Kate to go to bed last night. She took a late nap after yesterday's visit to the Burn Clinic and seemed like she was really hurting by the time it was time to put her to bed. After more medicine (which we were giving on a regular schedule, but the regular amount wasn't quite cutting it) she was finally ready to settle down. We're getting there. It's a big learning process, but today she seems to be more her usual self after a very long day yesterday.
